Fr Alberto was due for surgery on 12 September 2025 for a broken valve in his heart. Another valve was found damaged on 10 September 2025. The cause could be a bacteria infection. His kidneys and lungs were already infected. But before the doctors could do anything, they found his heart was not cooperating with the heavy dose of medication. They did CPR every hour but noticed that his heart was giving way. An hour after the doctors called the Jesuits to tell them that his heart was deteriorating and not responding. Fr Alberto passed away at 10:35am on 11 September 2025 in the University of Malaya Medical Centre in Kuala Lumpur.
